Homemade Protein Bars
Some people add unhealthy, high sugar ingredients to make their protein bars taste good, my recipe tastes good, is super healthy, and low calorie – a triple good combo. We actually cut them into smaller portions for a snack. During the holidays with so many sweets around, these are a nice alternative.
- 4 C old fashioned oats
- 1/2 C natural peanut butter (or almond)
- 1/4 C honey
- 2/3 C protein powder (I use unflavored soy because it contains no sugar)
- 1C nuts
- 1 1/2 C raisins or craisins or dried cherries (any combo)
- 3T carob powder
- 2 ripe bananas (smashed)
- 1/2 t vanilla
- 1/2 t cinnamon
- 1/2 C chocolate soy milk (more if needed to moisten)
- mix in blender, batter will be stiff, press into 9×9 greased pan, bake at 350* for 30 min, cool and cut. I store my bars in the freezer.
- Because I don’t use the soy milk for anything else, I freeze measured portions in freezer bags.
